The Little Flower Congregation (CST Fathers) is a congregation
of religious priests originated on 19th March 1931, at
Mookkannur, in the Archdiocese of
Ernakulam, Kerala.
It was started
as a society of Brothers under the name Little Flower
Brotherhood by the late Fr. Thomas Panat later known as Fr.
Basilius with the permission of Mar Augustine Kandathil, the
then Archbishop of Ernakulam.
It was
re-organized into a religious institute (thereafter called
Little Flower Congregation) with an approved constitution which
was later revised according to the new Oriental Code of Canon
Law.
The
Congregation was bifurcated in 1978 to form a congregation of priests
(CST Fathers) and a congregation of brothers (CST Brothers) by
Joseph Cardinal Parecattil, the then Archbishop of Ernakulam.
His Holiness
Pope John Paul II raised our Congregation to the status of a
Religious Institute of Pontifical Right on December 21, 1995.
St. Therese of
the Child Jesus (Lisieux) popularly known as the
"St. Little Flower" is the patroness of the
Congregation.
